At Horizyn, operated by OmniActus, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have regarding your data. By using Horizyn, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
This policy applies to all users of Horizyn, including visitors, registered users, and subscribers.
When you create an account or use Horizyn, we collect the following:
We use Stripe to process payments. We do not receive or store your full payment details such as credit card numbers. However, we store the following identifiers provided to us by Stripe to manage your subscription:
These identifiers are used solely to manage your subscription status, process renewals, and handle plan changes or cancellations. For more information on how Stripe handles your payment data, please review Stripe's Privacy Policy.
We collect data about how you use Horizyn in order to improve the Service and understand user behaviour. While your account is active, this analytics data is associated with your internal user ID. This includes:
When your account is deleted, your user ID is removed from this data. The remaining analytics are retained in anonymized form and can no longer be linked back to you as an individual. See Section 4 for more detail.
We collect certain technical data automatically when you use the Service, including:
If you sign in using the "Sign in with Google" button, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account to create and manage your Horizyn account.
If you choose to connect Google Calendar, Horizyn creates a separate, secondary calendar in your Google account (for example, "Horizyn Deadlines") and adds, updates, or removes events on that calendar to reflect your assignment deadlines. Horizyn only accesses and manages events on the calendar it creates. We do not access, view, or modify your existing Google calendars or any events you did not create through Horizyn.
When you use study features such as practice exams, flashcards, or teach-back sessions, Horizyn generates practice questions from your course material and stores your responses, scores, and session results.
For certain study methods, you may type a free-text response. We store this content in order to grade your answer and improve the quality of our AI-generated questions and grading over time. See Section 4.3 for how this content is retained, including after account deletion.
Holly is Horizyn's study assistant, available by SMS and WhatsApp. If you use Holly, we collect:
Holly does not save health or other personal details to her notes. You can see and delete everything Holly has saved about you on the “What Holly knows about me” page in your account.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
We do not sell your personal information. We only share your data with third parties in the following limited circumstances:
Your account email and subscription-related identifiers are shared with Stripe to facilitate payment processing and subscription management. Stripe acts as an independent data controller for payment information. Please review their privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Horizyn's AI features, including Holly, run on Anthropic's Claude models. When you use these features, relevant input data such as course or syllabus content and your messages to Holly is transmitted to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with its privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/legal/privacy. We encourage you to avoid entering sensitive personal information into AI-powered fields or messages to Holly.
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, such as a court order, government inquiry, or regulatory requirement.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Service if such a transfer occurs.
Horizyn integrates with Google Sign-In and Google Calendar through Google's APIs. Your use of these features is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Horizyn's access to and use of information received through Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements where applicable.
You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from within Horizyn's settings, or by revoking Horizyn's access directly through your Google Account permissions page. Disconnecting revokes our access token and deletes the calendar Horizyn created; it does not affect any other calendars or events in your Google account.
When you upload a syllabus or document, or send one to Holly, the file is sent to LlamaParse, a document reading service operated by LlamaIndex, to extract its text. LlamaIndex processes these files in accordance with its privacy policy, available at llamaindex.ai/privacy-policy.
We use Twilio to send and receive Holly's text messages. Your phone number and message content are shared with Twilio, and with the mobile carriers that deliver the messages, only to deliver them. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy. If you choose WhatsApp, messages are also delivered through WhatsApp, which is subject to WhatsApp's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number or your text messaging opt in data and consent with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging data is only shared with the service providers listed above, and only to deliver Holly's messages and run the Service.
While your account is active, analytics data such as AI API usage, course counts, and cancellation flow data is associated with your internal user ID. This allows us to understand how individual accounts use the Service and to improve the product.
When you delete your account, we will permanently delete the following:
Once your user ID is deleted, any remaining analytics data can no longer be linked back to you as an individual. This anonymized data, such as aggregate usage statistics and cancellation patterns, is retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.
This does not include the underlying practice questions we generate for practice exams, flashcards, or teach-back sessions, or any free-text responses you submitted during those sessions. Once your practice exam sessions are deleted, this content is no longer linked to your account. See Section 4.3 for how it is retained.
Practice questions, the key concepts we generate to grade your responses, and any free-text answer you submit during a study session are stored separately from the practice exam session record described in Section 4.2.
Because this content is no longer linked to your account once your practice exam sessions are deleted, it is retained indefinitely following account deletion, in a form that cannot be traced back to you. We use it to maintain and improve the quality of our AI-generated questions and grading.
If a study feature asks you to type a free-text response, please do not include personal information in your answer. Because this content may be retained after your account is deleted, we cannot guarantee that personal information included in a free-text response will be removed.
If you disconnect Google Calendar, whether by using Horizyn's in-app disconnect feature or by revoking access from your Google Account, we delete your stored Google OAuth token and the calendar Horizyn created promptly. Deleting your Horizyn account has the same effect: your Google OAuth token is revoked and deleted, and the calendar and any events created by Horizyn are removed.
You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from Holly, or by turning off Holly texts in your account settings. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at support@hrizyn.com.
Horizyn uses cookies and browser local storage to support core functionality, including:
We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies, but doing so may affect the functionality of the Service.
We may send you marketing or promotional emails in the future. When we do, we will only contact users who have opted in to receive such communications.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us at support@hrizyn.com. Opting out of marketing emails will not affect transactional messages related to your account or subscription.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

If you are a resident of Canada, these rights are supported under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation.
Horizyn is intended exclusively for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
If we become aware that a user is under 18, or that we have inadvertently collected personal information from someone under 18, we will terminate that account and delete the associated data promptly.
If you believe a minor has created an account on Horizyn, please contact us at support@hrizyn.com so we can take appropriate action.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. These include secure data storage, encrypted connections via HTTPS, and access controls.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you suspect a security breach affecting your account, please contact us immediately at support@hrizyn.com.
If you connect Google Calendar, your Google OAuth refresh token is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM and is never shared with third parties.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through or in connection with Horizyn.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service.
Your continued use of Horizyn after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
